"Baseball Boy x Boy = Ultimate Team?!" is the 13th chapter of Gakuen Babysitters.

Synopsis[]

Hayato ignores Taka the entire day after he destroys one of Hayato's signed baseballs, Ryuuichi is left to find a way to make the two brothers reconcile.

Long Summary[]

It is still the middle of the holidays at Morinomiya Academy, but all the clubs have started to open, including the Babysitting Club. Taka comes in sniffling and with a swollen face, and Ryuuichi immediately asks if he has fought with Hayato again. Taka attempts to explain while sniffling, but Ryuu cannot understand his incoherent sentences. Shizuka holds up a baseball covered in scribbles, which Kotaro identifies as drawings of poo. Shizuka explains that the baseball was a signed baseball that Hayato treasured for a long time, and that Taka had scribbled all over it. Ryuu, shocked, assumes that Hayato had hit Taka exceptionally hard on the head. Shizuka refutes, and recalls what had actually happened. Taka had drawn the scribbles because Hayato had been watching the summer baseball tournament rather than spending time with him. Hayato stared at his destroyed baseball and stood up. Taka immediately covered his head, thinking Hayato would hit him, but instead, Hayato walked past him to tell Shizuka that he will need lunch since he is going to his club. As Hayato was leaving, Taka ran up to him with his backpack, asking his brother to take him along to school, but before he could even finish his sentence, Hayato shut the door. This caused Taka to cry as Shizuka came up to him to ask what is wrong. Ryuu realizes that it was Hayato ignoring his little brother that made Taka cry. Shizuka asks Ryuu if he could talk to Hayato for her because Taka refuses to apologize. Ryuu agrees, but since Shizuka has make-up classes to teach and Usaida hasn't arrived yet, no one would be left to watch over the children in the daycare room if he leaves. Suddenly, the chairwoman, followed by Saikawa, bursts open the door and announces that she will watch over the children. After Ryuu and Shizuka have left, the chairwoman helps Taka blow his nose and orders Saikawa and Kotaro to get ice to calm his swollen eyelids.

A baseball club member tells Ryuu that Hayato has showed up to practice, but has been intensely glaring and swinging his bat ever since he arrived. He believes Hayato deserves to participate in a more skilled baseball team and that it is a shame that he must take care of his younger brother, which he immediately retracts in order to not offend Ryuu. Ryuu dismisses the statement, saying that he enjoys taking care of the children, and goes off to talk to Hayato. Hayato glares at Ryuu as he approaches, and Ryuu admits that Hayato can be really scary. The two talk as Ryuu explains how much Taka has been crying, to which Hayato interprets as Ryuu suggesting that he is childish and should quickly forgive him. Ryuu explains that Kotaro has done a lot of bad things too, such as breaking his matchstick model of Osaka castle, scribbling over his homework, and, most unfortunately, dropping his mobile phone in the toilet. Ryuu tears up as he recalls that that mobile phone had recordings of his mother and father's voices, and Hayato tells him to cheer up. Hayato says that he is not upset with the fact that his ball was destroyed, but rather with the fact that Taka had bad intentions and refused to apologize. He thinks that he should suck it up and deal with it. Back at the daycare room, the chairwoman questions Taka about his intentions as he repeats that it is not his fault. She then asks about Taka's treasure, to which he replies that it is his toy sword. The chairwoman takes the sword and asks Saikawa for a hammer so she can smash it. As she is about to destroy the sword, Taka begs her to stop, and she explains that this is what he had done to his brother.

Ryuu returns to the daycare room and asks Taka if he would like to apologize to his older brother. To his surprise, Taka gently nods. After club activities, Ryuu leads Kotaro and Taka, who hides behind his leg, to meet Hayato. Hayato looks at him and walks away, but Taka runs after him with tears dripping down his cheeks. Hayato tells him that if he doesn't hurry up, he will leave him behind. Taka runs up to his brother and wails and apologizes. Hayato hits him on the head, but smiles and apologizes for not spending time with him. Ryuu reflects about his relationship with his own little brother and how Kotaro will quickly grow. He thinks that he will be rather lonely once Kotaro grows older and stops doing naughty things. The four walk away together while Hayato announces that he and the children will be playing baseball the next day.
