Kanade is a recurring member of the Kamitani extended family. She is the mother of the infant Tsugumi, sister of Kamitani Shizuka, and aunt to Taka and Hayato.
Appearance[]
Kanade has long, bright-colored hair and rosy cheeks on her face. Her eyes, though usually closed or exaggerated, appear to match those in the majority of the Kamitani family.
Personality[]
Kanade is one of the more bombastic adults in the series. She tends to say whatever is on the forefront of her mind, but does feel bad whenever she offends or imposes on anybody.
Kanade has not been a mother for very long, and her maternal instincts can lead her to make rash decisions out of worry.
History[]
Kanade in Shizuka's care.
One day, Kanade and her husband came down with a bad cold. Shizuka had her leave their baby with Hayato while they were brought to the hospital for treatment. When the irate Hayato called to complain about Tsugumi's incessant crying, Kanade became distressed and began crying too. Convinced that her baby missed her terribly, she was almost set to go to him when she got an update. Hayato's classmate, Kashima Ryuuichi, managed to calm Tsugumi down simply by holding him in his arms. Kanade didn't quite know how to feel about her son not relying on her, but Shizuka told her to keep her mind on recovering.[1]
On another day, she and Tsugumi paid a visit to Shizuka's. Taka was engrossed in the Justiknight show, and sang along with the theme song. Kanade recorded it on her phone, and remarked out loud how funny it was that Taka wasn't a good singer. Her nephew took what she said to heart, and cried over his faults. Kanade, in an attempt to fix this, tried showing him the recording she took in order to restore his confidence. This only made things worse, as Taka did not like the sound of his singing voice.[2]
Relationships[]
Tsugumi[]
Kanade loves her son so much. Even when she was sick, she wanted to be there to comfort him when he cried.
Kamitani Shizuka[]
Shizuka calming the fretful Kanade.
Kanade and Shizuka are as close as sisters could be. Kanade finds herself relying on Shizuka, a more experienced mother, to see that she takes care of herself for the good of her family.
Kanade appreciates the help, even though she feels guilty about being an inconvenience.
Kamitani Hayato[]
One as aloof as Hayato isn't the easiest to connect with, but Kanade is close enough to feel bad about having him look after his cousin, despite not (then) being the most approachable babysitter.
Kamitani Taka[]
Kanade finds Taka to be almost as cute as her own son. She accidentally hurt his feelings when she laughed at his singing, and attempted to make amends.
