"Get back to work!! I hate people who do things half-assed!!!"
―Youko[src]

Youko Morinomiya is also called the Chairman. She is called "Obaa-san (Grandmother)" by Ryuuchi and called "Fluffy" by Kotarou.

Appearance

Youko Morinomiya's most striking feature is her big hair, which reminds Kotarou of a sheep (hence the nickname "Fluffy"). She is old, and walks around with a cane. Most of the time she is seen with a plain black dress and a shawl. The chairman is rarely seen smiling, but when she does it is a very slight smile.

She is often seen flanked by her butler/secretary/chef (no one really knows what his real job is), Saikawa.

Personality

She is a very harsh person, but has moments of friendliness. She seems to care for the two boys, but hates being called "Fluffy". The chairman's personality comes off as brisk and austere because she is a hard worker who wants things done. She has been especially bitter ever since the death of her son and daughter-in-law, who died on the same plane crash as Ryuuchi and Kotarou's parents.

History

Morinomiya first appears in the manga in chapter 1. Instead of being the nice old lady Ryuuchi had imagined, he and his younger brother, Kotarou found her to be frightening. The chairman quickly interrogated Ryuuchi as to whether he could take care of kids. He, of course, had replied yes because he had been diligently taking care of Kotarou. The chairman dealt that she would take him in only if he worked at the daycare all day except for when he has his lessons. Morinomiya is rich and successful, and runs a school.

Throughout the series, the chairman has appeared. She is often busy with meeting and comes home

late.

There has been some instances where her soft side has shown, such as when Kotarou and the rest of the daycare put on a play for all the parents. Although she had a meeting to go to, Youko decided to go and watch Kotarou preform (although she pretended it was a bother and that she was forced.)
